Picture a 60+ acre farm with a solar-powered restaurant that serves food from the land we harvest, a workshop that repurposes material to build upcycled furniture that is sold in a retail boutique and a fully sustainable community where we will work, live and serve others.
We will accomplish this through education, skill-development, holistic healing practices, nutrition, 12-step programs, and of course renewed spirituality.
The Seeds Group has a fresh vision to harvest the strength of our young men and replace their addiction with aptitudes.
Education is everything, and many of our young men have not had the opportunity to fully develop their education because of interpersonal setbacks caused by addiction. Seeds would like to change that by providing opportunities for our residents to discover what it is they are truly passionate about. Our unique approach provides collaborative vocation based learning opportunities through select partners. Beginning with a self-assessment to uncover general likes and dislikes and then an individualized aptitude test to unlock hidden potential, an innate skill-set will emerge. From there we provide placement with a select partner that can meet your specific educational needs and provide you with the vocational training and a learning environment that encourages growth towards a new career.
Once uncovered, and now confident in the pursuit of a new-found aptitude and potential career path, Seeds will support skill-development through ongoing mentorship and peer-to-peer learning opportunities. Working hand-and-hand with the partner program selected, we will assess strengths and weaknesses; while helping develop strengths further and nurturing weaknesses with continued education and training. This ongoing approach to skill-development allows for residents to move at a guided pace that allows for personal comfort while also gradually stretching the comfort zone of the individual, ultimately leading to breakthrough moments.
Holistic Healing Practices
Long considered an alternative to traditional medicine, holistic healing and wellness has emerged as a leader and is recognized as a preferred approach for many addicts to heal the whole person. Reliance on prescription medicine causes the addiction cycle to continue and can take months if not years to find the right balance. Not to mention the expense of doctor visits and medical bills, and the financial stress that those can cause. At Seeds, we seek to provide holistic healing opportunities through experiential therapy sessions in sensory deprivation tanks, salt-room detoxification, acupuncture, tai-chi, essential oil treatment, yoga, meditation, astrology and an ever-expanding holistic wellness program to help heal the mind, body, and soul.
One of the most overlooked reasons for anxiety, irritability, and common aches is a lack of quality nutrition. Obesity, chronic pain, and inflammation can lead to cravings for foods that slow recovery. At Seeds, we want to provide a deeper understanding of how nutrition can play a key role in recovery and ultimately lead to a longer, healthier and more productive life. By providing an in-depth nutritional study, food replacement guides, seasoning/sweetening substitute suggestions and meal prep training, nutrition will become an everyday habit and ultimately a lifestyle that will lead to a more productive recovery.
A key part of recovery is thoroughly following the path outlined in a 12-step program. No matter the addiction, there is a 12-step program that can bring clarity to the thought process that guides the mind of an addict. Designed by addicts, for addicts, 12-step programs not only provide a method of moral psychology but also a fellowship to help those addicted to connect and help one another. We encourage involvement in a program that best suits your needs and will pair you with a home group and Sponsor who can help you establish a foundation from which to build upon.
Connecting with a Higher Power of your understanding is life-changing. Getting outside of self and understanding the greatness that the world has to offer in the form of love, peace and harmony can reframe the mind and cure the spiritual infection that has been causing one to use. Addiction is a disease and it can spread quickly, staying connected to a Higher Power and developing a personal sense of spirituality will help provide the immune defense necessary to ensure a meaningful life lead by purpose instead of self-will. Through spiritual retreats, nature walks, discussion groups, traditional religious gatherings and a host of additional spiritual outlets, Seeds will help you connect your mind and body with a spirit to guide you.
